Sex and the City: Backup ?
If you have seen "Sex and the City", you have probably noticed that the clamshell iBook sometimes is to seen as a "supporting act". Here a clip taken from Season 4 Episode 8 (or Episode 56 in total) "My Motherboard, My Self". Carrie Bradshaws beloved black PowerBook freezes and all data seems to be lost.

Her boyfriend Aiden surprises her with a new indigo iBook and a zip drive for backups. It has a beautiful handle and looks like a purse ! Carrie is still irritated about the loss of her PowerBook and rejects his presents (later on he gives her back the keys to her appartment, they fall apart). The technician in the Apple Store notifys her that nearly all data was lost and advised her to backup.

The iBook is different. It has been designed to be handled roughly, by young people. And even though I'm sure many people would say that mature individuals should be able to handle a sophisticated machine without damaging it, I am positive that the mere idea that one has to be careful is psychologically responsible for the user more or less retreating from the machine.
