Applejack fixes your problem
When you have installed at least OSX 10.2 on your iBook, please take a look at the Freeware Tool Applejack. In most cases concerning startup-problems applejack can help, and you don't have to use your original system CD/DVD. Once installed, boot your iBook into single user mode, type in applejack and start the automatic repair.

The iBook is undoubtedly rugged, functional, powerful and fun, and it may even be beautiful. Having to pay an extra £350 for sufficient RAM and disk space to edit a modest home video hurts a little, though, and the lack of screen space is irritating. But in every other respect, the iBook has come of age.
